Are Andros' models considered pangas?
That's a tough one... We hired a yacht design team with the idea of designing an Americanized panga but ended up with something better. The concept of a panga is incredible when talking about ride, efficiency and versatility in flats and offshore fishing. The style along with lack of features, balance and new motor technology doesn't work in panga designs. To make it simple our team borrowed from the panga idea, modernized it, balanced it, added the necessary comforts and made it easy and affordable for us to build. This new concept and design is slightly different. Andros models are faster, run better in chop, handle better in turns and are dryer and softer. We offer a far better boat with more features standard at a competitive price. It's what started out with the idea of a panga and now is a custom hybrid. Andros Boatworks incorporates some panga design ideas but is merged with top class yacht design and naval architecture.
What the heck is a panga anyway?
If you have been looking at pangas you probably know the history so we won't bore you with all the details again. Pangas have reputation all over the world for being efficient, fast, versatile work-horses. They also have a reputation for being less than perfect from a finishing and features stand point. At least until now!
Pangas are found all over the world and are used to carry heavy loads with low horsepower motors. They are used on the flats and in the deep water and for just about any application imaginable. Guides, commercial fisherman, businessmen, shuttles, families you name it, they are everywhere in the world. They are still built today all over the world by Yamaha for a source for selling engines in the third world and other developing countries. It's safe to say there are more panga style boats in the world than any other style of boat.
Why did Andros build from the panga platform?
Fuel Efficiency, Versatility and cost to the customer. When looking at classic boat design and what people want and need in a fishing/family boat the application was clear. We wanted a hybrid of this design that would be a true performer in speed, safety, efficiency, features, customization and the list goes on. Basically we got what we paid for from the best designers in the business - a versatile do it all boat at an affordable price to purchase and to operate. We build and sell several models each designed for a variety of conditions and applications. Andros makes a boat that will work in every situation. And one that does it in style!
Why buy an Andros?

When you are looking for information visit these sites below. These are public discussions and panga specific forums where all the products available on the market are discussed. We even participate in some. Andros hates to bother our customers because one of the reasons they buy our boat is to have fun and get away from it all. However our customers are proud and many belong to these forums. They love their boat and enjoy their time on it.
